How do you start your first run?
Launch MONOCHROME and press Enter the House from the party menu — the run works solo, and you do not need a full server to reach the ending. Before moving, read the tutorial slides instead of clicking straight through them: they are the only in-game explanation you get, covering the monster, the escape objective and the optional Radar gamepass. Then take a moment in the spawn lobby to note where the elevator, the lock panel and the keypad sit, because this room is your return point for the whole run.
What are the controls in MONOCHROME?
MONOCHROME runs on Roblox standard movement, with the E key handling every interaction in the game. There is no complex control scheme to memorize — the skill is in when you interact, not how.
| Action | Input |
|---|---|
| Move and jump | Roblox standard controls (WASD and Space) |
| Pry the DO NOT ENTER planks | Hold E at the boarded doorway |
| Open a dresser drawer | Press E at the dresser |
| Take a key | Press E when the Take Key prompt appears |
| Hide from the monster | Press E at a wardrobe to climb inside |
| Enter the elevator code | Press E at the keypad and input the digits |
What should you do in your first ten minutes?
Your first run is mostly about rhythm, not route knowledge. The loop below is the one experienced players repeat until the elevator opens.
| Minute | What you do |
|---|---|
| 0-1 | Enter the House, read the tutorial slides, memorize the lobby layout |
| 1-2 | Pry the planks off the DO NOT ENTER doorway and take the stairs down |
| 2-6 | Sweep one wing of rooms at a time, opening every dresser drawer |
| 6-8 | Carry each key straight back upstairs — one indicator light turns green per key |
| 8-9 | Read the four digits on the slip atop the pale block when you pass it |
| 9-10 | Enter the code at the keypad and press Open Elevator once all four lights are green |
The map behind this loop is broken down in the full map guide, and the key search itself has a page of its own in the keys guide.
How do you survive the monster as a beginner?
The monster is a tall horned figure that patrols the corridors on its own path and kills on contact, so your job is to hear it before you see it. Players report an approaching-ukulele cue before it closes in; the moment footsteps or that music start, stop opening drawers and step into the nearest wardrobe with E. It sometimes stops to stare straight into the closet — stay put and it walks away. Avoid sprinting down long straight hallways where it has clear line of sight, and remember that getting caught respawns you at the elevator lobby upstairs.
Which mistakes end runs early?
Almost every beginner death traces back to a handful of habits, and none of them require skill to fix — just awareness.
When you are ready to go deeper, the complete walkthrough assembles the whole route, the monster guide details survival, and the door code guide covers the electronic lock.
