MONOCHROME Keys - All 4 Key Locations & How to Find Them
Keys in MONOCHROME only spawn inside dresser drawers in the basement corridors. Here is how to search fast, mark cleared rooms, and get all four keys home.

Where do the keys spawn in MONOCHROME?
All four keys spawn inside furniture — specifically dresser drawers in the basement corridors — and never on floors, shelves, or tables. Placement is not fixed to one memorized route: the drawers that hold keys change between runs, which is exactly why a room-by-room sweep beats trying to recall an old map. Every dresser in the corridor network is an interactable container, so treat the whole basement as one search space rather than a list of known spots. The maze those dressers live in is mapped floor by floor in the full map guide.
MONOCHROME FULL WALKTHROUGH (Codes, Key Locations, Ending)
How do you search drawers efficiently?
Walk up to a dresser, press E to open the drawer, and look inside — a Take Key prompt appears if a key is there, and empty drawers give nothing, so move on the moment a drawer comes up empty instead of re-checking the same room. The habits below come from player-verified walkthrough guides and make the sweep dramatically faster.
| Habit | Why it works |
|---|---|
| Leave opened drawers open | The prompt switches to Drawer Close — a free marker that the room is already cleared |
| Clear neighboring rooms after a find | Pairs of keys sometimes turn up in adjacent rooms |
| Carry each key upstairs right away | No hoarding — dying with keys in hand costs you the trip back |
| Stop searching when you hear the monster | Most deaths happen while mid-interaction with furniture |
What do the keys actually unlock?
The four keys release the four mechanical deadbolts on the exit — one key per deadbolt, with no way to substitute or skip them. Insert each key at the lock panel beside the elevator and watch one indicator light turn green; keys you have already inserted stay inserted even when the monster catches you, so a death costs time rather than progress. The electronic half of the lock — the four-digit code — is covered step by step in the door code guide.
Why is one indicator light still dark?
If the lock panel shows an unlit indicator, a key is either still sitting in a drawer somewhere or still in your inventory waiting to be inserted, and the elevator will not respond until all four lights are green. This is the single most common reason a run stalls at what looks like the finish, ahead of even keypad mis-entries. The full end-to-end route, code half included, is assembled step by step in the complete walkthrough.
What about the Radar gamepass - does it help find keys?
The tutorial slides before each run mention an optional paid Radar gamepass, but available walkthroughs do not confirm it has anything to do with key hunting — treat it as optional flavor, not a requirement. Nothing in the game requires spending Robux: the four keys, the code, and the escape are all reachable in a plain solo run.
We recheck this page after every update to the game — the homepage always reflects the current state of the escape route.
